Blogging Ghana Day 9

Today was the Thanksgiving service for this man through whom God had done so many wonderful things in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana. The family members sat in the front pews on the lectern side. Most of the congregation was wearing black and white. The hymn of the day was the very familiar Now Thank We all Our God. As I preached of the feeding of the 5,000 I reminded the congregation that from our mother's womb our Lord has blessed us on our way with countless gifts of love and still is ours today. It also provided an opportunity to remind the people that the Lord had compassion on the people who had come to hear him and still looks with compassion on the widow and the fatherless.

At the end of the service President Fynn had the pastors and family members stand in the front and each pastor, including Pastor Rockrohr and myself, was asked to pray for the family and the congregation.

After church I talked with many people and then President Fynn and his wife took me to eat. It was a Chinese restaurant that they took me to two years ago. The food was good and we were there till it closed at 3 PM.

I must now rest a bit, do some class preparation, and then beginning anticipating my return to join you at the altar next Sunday. May the Lord watch over your comings in and your goings out this week.

Pastor
