Dr. Adam Francisco from the Fort Wayne Seminary will be in town for a special presentation on February 16, 6:30-8:30, at the UWM Union. He has a doctorate in Christian-Muslim relations from Oxford University and is the author of a book on Martin Luther and Islam. The presentation will include a question and answer session. It has pleased our dear Lord to take Gertrude Tunks from this valley of sorrow to Himself in heaven. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. There will be a visitation on Monday evening, October 12, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, 9200 S. 27th St, Oak Creek, WI. There will be an additional visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday morning, October 13, from 9:30 until 10:30. The funeral will be at Our Father's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6025 S. 27th St., at 11:00 AM. After the funeral service there will be a procession to Arlington Cemetery for the interment.

 Everyone is welcome to come and have an out of this world experience!

People are suffering in the wake of four recent disasters in Asia, including the 7.6-magnitude earthquake that hit Indonesia September 30, originating off Sumatra and killing more than 700, with the death toll expected to rise. That tragedy is the latest in a string of disasters, including a tsunami in Samoa, flooding in the Philippines, and a typhoon in Taiwan. “LCMS World Relief and Human Care is actively engaged in assessing needs and providing assistance by working directly with our partner churches, LCMS World Mission, and the Pacific Southwest and California-Nevada-Hawaii districts,” said Rev. Higher Things will be having two conferences in 2010!

The first will be at Utah State University in Logan, Utah June 29 -July 2.

The second conference will be the following week at the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee - July 6 - July 9th

Jesus does the giving, we are the ones given-to. Jesus gives His life for us on the Cross and we are given His Cross-won forgiveness in the Divine Service - in the Word, in Holy Absolution, in Holy Baptism, and His Supper. As Jesus gives us His life and salvation in the Divine Service, so we are given to pray in His Name, to praise and to give thanks unto our Father in heaven. And just as we are given the gift of Jesus in the Divine Service, so also He gives us as a gift to our neighbors.

Tomorrow morning I will be boarding the plane for two weeks of teaching in Ghana. While you are all gathered on Sunday morning, I will be at the altar at Trinty Lutheran Church in Tema.

At Our Father's we are pro-life and encourage our members to act in love toward those faced with crisis pregnancies. Luther Memorial Chapel will be hosting the annual LifeWalk this year. This is an annual fundraiser that supports A Place of Refuge as they work with women in crisis pregnancy situations.
