Our Father's Gift of Love

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. 1 John 3:1 (ESV)

OK, we confess that there aren't many Lutheran churches left like ours. We aren't here to entertain you with bands, dancers, theatrical performances, and flashy computer presentations. We are here to tell you about the love of God the Father for us. Our Father's is a congregation of sinners that acknowledges that though I am the chief of sinners Jesus shed His blood for me. We have been brought together by the Father's love to be declared His holy children. Each week we gather in the Divine Service to hear the message that the Father sent His Son for us men and for our salvation. We invite you to join us each week to hear more about the Father's love for all people.

Training the Children of Our Father

That message of the Father's love is also faithfully taught in our Lutheran school so that our children may grow in faith and serve their neighbor in love. Our school offers a traditional education with a strong foundation in Lutheran doctrine. We focus on mathematics, grammar, history and science in addition to the memorization of Holy Scripture and Luther's Small Catechism.

We also support Martin Luther High School to train our children in faith toward God and love toward neighbor.

Blogging Ghana Day 13
By prfabrizius @ 1:21 PM :: 174 Views :: 2 Comments :: Article Rating :: Ghana Updates

It is hard to believe but this is my last post to you from Ghana. I will be leaving this donated computer to be used at the seminary. Tomorrow night I will spend the night on board a plane load of noisy and sometimes unruly Africans. The flight will be about 10 hours and will involve a meal in the middle of the night. There is a huge cultural gap between American and African ideas of courteous and civil behavior on an airplane.

Blogging Ghana Day 12

I just returned to my room for the evening. Gordon has a wedding rehearsal but has taken me to eat every night before returning home. Tonight we had peanut soup again but with goat meat in it this time. The goat meat is like beef in look but has a nice distinct taste of its own. I would eat it again. We had fufu with it.

Today was the Thanksgivng service for this man through whom God had done so many wonderful things in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana. The family members sat in the front pews on the lectern side. Most of the congregation was wearing blank and white. The hymn of the day was the very familiar Now Thank We all Our God.

Blogging Ghana Day 5

Today was a state sponsored holiday in Ghana: Ramadan. Though the country is only about 10% Muslim the holiday was instituted many years ago as a political ploy. The holiday meant that many shops were closed and the traffic was very light. Although it is a Muslim day of fasting and prayer, many Muslims drink much alcohol on this day in Ghana. Even at the place we were at this afternoon, there were several Muslims.
